Susan Holbert has been an indexing consultant since 1985. She has indexed more than a hundred books and manuals, ranging from medical textbooks to the autobiography of First Lady Rosalynn Carter. She has worked for publishers, authors, book developers, U.S. and state governments, and a wide range of businesses. As a long-term indexing consultant to Lotus Development Corp., she wrote the Indexing chapter of the Lotus Style Guide. She has created two popular indexing seminars, Basic Indexing Skills and How To Index Technical Manuals and Online Help. She helped design and market an indexing software program, wINDEX. She received a B.A. from Wellesley College. She specializes in medical, financial, and el-hi through college textbooks.

Pierce Butler began his career as an engineer, working on the Thames River Barrier project in London. He then earned a Masters of Education from Harvard University. He has been teaching English at Bentley University for 25 years. He has published a literature textbook and two novels as well as numerous essays and stories. He has been the co-principal of TIP since its inception in 1985. He specializes in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and computer books.
